Church Life

Our local church is growing and active. We've got a place for everyone, regardless of age or background, you're certain to discover a home here.

Sunday Services

We gather together each week for a 10:30am service.

Before and after the services good filter coffee and tea is served.  The first 15 minutes, before the children go to their groups, usually contain a song, something for all ages and 'Family News', which is an opportunity for anyone to come to the front and share something meaningful that has happened in their week.  After the children leave, we have a mixture of songs, prayers, a reading from the Bible, and a 20-25 minute explanation of the reading and its practical implication for us today. The services are relaxed and no one will be asked to do anything that they are not comfortable with. Our worship songs are contemporary, with an occasional older one used as appropriate.

At both services, there is provision for children. At the second service, our youth groups meet. On the first Sunday of each month, we usually celebrate Communion together. The second Sunday Youth stay in with the adults, Third Sunday we have an all-age extended family praise time.

Groups

We have a variety of groups and courses that run at BCC.  We try to cater for everyone in the church, no matter what their stage of faith or the time they can commit.  There is no one-size-fits-all approach and we recognise that different people have different ways in which they connect and grow.  The most important thing to us is for everyone to be given an opportunity to grow in their faith, hope and love of Jesus.
Each term we offer a selection of groups, with a two or three week sign-up period before they start.  This makes it easy for new people to get involved in the life of the church, as joining a new group is less intimidating than one that has been meeting for a long time – everyone is new together. Some people are able to commit to a short-term group where they would not feel able to commit for the long term. Below are the main types of Small Group we run...

REGULAR WEEKLY GROUPS

These run on a weekly basis, following material that the group wants engage with.  If the group has space for new people to join, they will advertise at the beginning of the term, otherwise they continue as they are.

REGULAR SIGN-UP GROUPS

These are slightly different in that participants sign up for the coming term, even though the group is offered regularly.

ONE-OFF COURSES

We try to mix up different types of course we run.  Many of them are aimed at helping the participants develop their own spiritual walk with God.  We will always try to include a Christian discovery course such as Alpha or Christianity Explored.

WELCOME TO BCC COURSE

Each term Phil & Shirley Cole, our Church Leaders, aim to run this five-week course for new people wanting to find out more about the church and what we stand for. It's a great opportunity to ask questions and get to know other new people.

Prayer

We believe that prayer is the engiene of the church. As a people we long to connect with what's on God's heart for us, our community, nation and world.

In the heart of the church we have a 24/7 available prayer space kitted out with engaging prayer stations for both intercession and contemplation.

Throughout the year we run 24/1 days in which the church seeks to come together to pray.
